In my previous article on how to remove concealer, we described how to remove concealer using a makeup remover.

As we know, it is not always possible to use a makeup remover for various reasons.

Here, I will give you a complete guide on how you can remove concealer step by step using other approved makeup removal alternatives.

Step 01: Remove the lashes

If you are wearing any fake lashes, you will have to remove them by hand before getting into removing other makeup products.

Step 02: Use some wet wipes

Before getting to the concealer, you will have to remove the other loose makeup products.

To remove them with ease, you can use some wet wipes.

Do not use a lot of pressure while wiping the makeup.

The wipes cannot remove all the products.

Especially if you are wearing waterproof concealer.

Wipes will remove the lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and blush.

Step 03: Use some oil based products

The waterproof concealer contains some binding agents that are resistant to water.

It is for that reason wet wipes cannot remove makeup.

Warm water and soap will also not remove waterproof concealer.

The best way to remove waterproof concealer is by using any oil-based products.

Some of the most commonly used oil-based products to remove concealer include;

1. Coconut oil

I have been using coconut oil to remove concealer for the longest time and I can say there is nothing that works best than coconut oil.

Apply the oil to your face and let it sit for a few minutes.

The oil will react with the makeup breaking it down for easy removal.

Use some wipes or a cloth to wipe the melted makeup off your skin.

Coconut oil not only removes the concealer but also hydrates your skin and repairs some skin damage.

2. Extra virgin olive oil

Another oil that will work wonders for your skin while helping you remove the makeup is olive oil.

Olive oil does not contain cholesterol therefore if it comes in contact with your skin, it won’t clog your pores.

Apply the oil the same way you did for coconut oil and let it break down the chemical components in the concealer then use a cloth to wipe off the makeup.

3. Petroleum Jelly

If you can’t access coconut oil or olive oil, you can use your usual petroleum jelly to remove your makeup

Apply the petroleum jelly for a few minutes and let it melt the concealer then use a cloth, some cotton wool, or wipes to wipe off the concealer.

4. Jojoba oil

Another very helpful oil-based product that works perfectly as makeup removal is Jojoba oil.

This oil is known to have helpful ingredients for skin rejuvenation.

However, this oil is not commonly found in your local drug store.

5. Micellar water

If you can’t access either of the mentioned products above, you should use micellar water to remove your makeup.

Dip cotton wool in micellar water and wipe your face with the cotton wool. The water contains some ingredients that melt your makeup making it easy to be wiped off.

6. Natural baby shampoo

Baby products are known to have the most gentle ingredients to suit sensitive baby skin.

If by any chance you cannot access a makeup remover, you can use natural baby shampoo to remove your makeup.

Simply put a soft fiber cloth in warm water and pour baby shampoo on the cloth.

Use the cloth to clean your face. The shampoo won’t harm your face by any chance.

7. Aloe Vera oil

If you can access Aloe Vera oil you will be experiencing a combination of nourishment and freshness. One more thing you can use Aloe Vera oil for is to remove makeup.

Put a small amount of Aloe Vera oil on your hands and apply it to your face the same way you do for a moisturizer.

Let the oil sit for a few minutes and use wipes to remove the melted makeup.

8. Use a moisturizer

If you have been using a moisturizer to moisturize your face only, you have been missing out on other uses of moisturizer.

In instances where you cannot access a makeup remover, you can use your moisturizer to melt the makeup.

Put a small amount of moisturizer on your hands and apply it all over your face and your neck.

Let it sit for a few minutes then use some wipes to remove the melted makeup.

Step 4: Use some warm water and beauty soap

After removing the remaining makeup using any oil-based products, you will have to wash your face with warm water to ensure all the makeup is off your face.

  • Dip some exfoliating gloves, soft fiber cloth, or face washing sponge in warm water. Apply some beauty soap that is enriched with essential oils.
  • Scrub your face gently without using any pressure with the sponge, soft cloth, or exfoliating gloves.
  • After you are sure all makeup is removed from your face, rinse your face with warm water only.

Do not use hot water as it might damage your sensitive skin. Also, avoid using bar soap since all bar soaps contain caustic soda the soaping agent that dries up your face and causes it to crack.

Step 5: Scrub your face with a face scrubber

You should attempt to scrub your face at least thrice a week especially if you wear makeup daily.

Scrubbing your face gets rid of all the makeup buildup and dead skin.

Do not use a harsh scrubber and don’t apply a lot of pressure on your face because it may be cause for have micro-tears on your skin

Let your face scrub sit on your face for about twenty minutes then wipe it out and rinse out your face again with warm water.

Step 6: Use a massager

After ensuring your face is free from any makeup or any makeup remnant, you can use a massager to relax your face.

Massage your cheeks, cheekbones, your chin, forehead, and your neck.

Step 7: Use an exfoliating mask

After your face is relaxed, you should wear an exfoliating mask that is enriched with essential oils. Let the mask sit on your face for about 30 minutes then remove it.

Step 8: Use a serum and then a moisturizer

To finish up with the process of removing your makeup, you can apply a skin serum that contains vitamin E to rejuvenate your skin.

After applying a serum, use an oil-free moisturizer to keep your skin fresh and hydrated.

You can then make a cup of hot tea and chill while binge-watching your favorite show.

With this whole process, you can be assured your skin will be healthier, happier, and youthful.
