It is a general assumption that expensive beauty products or skincare items are the best ones. Unfortunately, it is wrong. For example, when you have invested so much on your makeup remover, especially, eye makeup remover, and still doing multiple wipes and scrubbing to get the makeup removed, is it still the best one?
No, it is not.
The best ones have to be gentle and easy to use and in addition, should nourish your skin without stripping away moisture. Why invest a lot on store-bought products and struggle hard to remove eye makeup when you can prepare the best, nourishing and easy to use and most importantly safe ones on budget at home.
Believe us the recipes given here are loaded with goodness and are in fact better than the items bought from a branded skincare store.
Homemade Eye Makeup Remover
1. Baby Shampoo
Combine half tablespoon no-tears baby shampoo with one quarter teaspoon coconut oil in a glass bowl. Add one cup water to the mixture and stir well. Transfer it to a glass jar and shake well, no problem if the oil pools on the top. Dab a soft cloth or cotton ball in the mixture and wipe off the eye makeup.
2. Olive Oil
Mix four tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil with three tablespoon of almond oil in a glass jar. Use this oil mixture to take away the eye makeup before bed. The oil mixture is good for skin and you can use it for massaging the skin around the eyes as well.
3. Avocado
Take a fresh avocado and a cotton swab to work the magic while removing eye makeup. Cut the avocado into two halves and simply swab it like a cream and use it for wiping away the eye makeup. The vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids in avocado nourishes the skin and keeps it moist.
4. Witch Hazel
Blend 2 tablespoon witch hazel water (alcohol free) with one tablespoon jojoba oil and a little olive oil in a glass jar. Add one cup water to the mixture and stir thoroughly. Replace the lid and shake well. Dip a cotton pad in the solution and gently wipe the eyes and face to remove all the makeup. The liquid is gentle on the delicate eye area and does not need vigorous wiping, which is a big no, if you wish to avoid wrinkles.
5. Castor Oil
Dilute castor oil with equal quantities of grape seed oil in a mason jar. Damp a cotton ball or a pad in the oil blend and daub the oil over the eye lashes. Gently massage the eye lids and skin under the eyes using the oil. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wipe away the oil using another fresh cotton pad.
6. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is an excellent defrizzer, body moisturizer and also really good eye makeup remover. It removes the make up easily without much tugging or rubbing of undereye skin area. Coconut oil solubilizes water-resistant substances present in the eye makeup like mascara and eye shadow thereby releasing them from the lashes and skin. It also leaves your skin softer, as it smooths and moisturizes it. Scoop out some coconut oil (at room temperature the oil is solid) and rub it between the fingers. Smooth that on the area around your eye with your fingers. Using a dry cotton ball to wipe it out until all the makeup is removed.
7. Baby Oil
Baby oil contains 2 ingredients – fragrance and mineral oil. Mineral oil is a natural ingredient, which is obtained from earth. Using baby oil to remove your eye makeup is effective, moisturizing, safe and it is cheap too. Dip a cotton square in the oil and wipe a couple of times on each eye to remove the makeup.
