Baking, or cooking, is an old-school makeup technique that you should definitely use for a flawless and creaseless makeup look, especially for your under-eyes, T-zone and contouring areas.
It’s essentially letting translucent setting powder sit on top of your concealer or foundation for about 5 to 10 minutes. During that time, your skin will heat up and set as well as even out the makeup so that it looks like actual skin, and the powder will absorb the excess oil.
It may take a while longer than just going with your normal compact powder, but the result can be so much better. After dusting it off, you won’t even be able to tell the difference between the concealer and your actual complexion. You won’t waste any more time either, as you can definitely do something else while letting it “cook”.

How to Bake Your Makeup
Let me walk you through the steps to create a gorgeous makeup look.
Step 1: Eye Cream

Step 2: Liquid Foundation
Well, it’s also okay if you want to go with powder or foundation stick, but your final look can be a bit cakey and the setting powder won’t reach its maximum effect. Choose your go-to liquid foundation, blend it out nicely and evenly on your face including the areas you want to bake.
Step 3: Liquid Concealer
You may want to go a bit extra on this part. Since the powder is sitting for quite a while, it can absorb a lot of moisture and leave your concealer dry, so you need to put a lot of product. Maybe go for another round of application if you need it. Blending it with a damp sponge is the way to go!
Step 4: Bake!
Choose a translucent setting powder that actually works for baking and apply a fair amount (don’t be shy) on your skin using a large brush. Spread it out evenly. Do another coat.
Leave it there for about 10 minutes. You can continue with your normal makeup routine in the meanwhile. The trick is not to move your facial muscles and your head too much so the powder won’t fall out. Yes, you will probably look weird but it works!
After 10 minutes, use the same brush to dust it off gently! Do not use force or the concealer will go with your brush and you’ll have to do it again.
