Have sensitive lips? Here are the best hypoallergenic lipsticks for sensitive lips. Check it out!
I believe that whether you use makeup or not, lipstick is an indispensable item in daily life.
However, to create trendy lip colors with longer-lasting or sweeter scent, many cosmetic brands use a lot of chemical ingredients instead of producing the best hypoallergenic lipstick.
These substances will wreak havoc on your sensitive lips.
So if your lips are already allergic to these substances or if you're perfectly fine with regular lipsticks but looking for a more friendly product, this article is for you.
The best hypoallergenic lipstick will be reviewed in detail along with instructions and precautions when buying this product. Let’s check it out.
How to choose the best hypoallergenic lipstick?
To choose the best hypoallergenic lipstick, you need to answer the following questions:
- What ingredient in lipstick causes an allergic reaction? If you know the correct answer, you only need to choose a lipstick that does not contain those ingredients. In case you do not know exactly, 100% natural lipstick is the best choice.
- What type of organic lipstick do you want to buy? Determining what type of lipstick you want will help you know the brands. Not all organic cosmetic brands produce a wide range of lipstick lines. So if you don't have a favorite brand, determining liquid or lipstick, gloss or matte will be a simpler solution.
- Do you want your lipstick to last all day or you are not afraid of re-applying? If you belong to the former group, the lipsticks with waterproof formula should be included in the list. Meanwhile, if you are in the latter group, you have all the options.
What can I use if im allergic to lipstick?
One of the more natural options is to try tinted lip balms. They can give your lips a subtle wash of colour while still moisturizing and protecting your pout. Plus, most have natural ingredients like shea butter, beeswax, and vitamin E, which are generally milder and less likely to cause an allergic reaction.
If you’re looking for a little more colour, you could try a light-coverage liquid lipstick. While not as much of a “pop” of colour as regular lipstick would give, these can still give your lips a hint of colour without the worry of ingredients in traditional lipsticks. You can even mix colours to find the one that’s just right for you.
Finally, you can opt for a long-lasting lip stain. Not only does a stain provide long-lasting colour, but the formula is often less likely to cause a reaction since it doesn’t require any touching up. Plus, they come in a variety of shades to suit any look.

And as you can see, totally natural and therefore, it is friendly with your lip. Talking about Best Hypoallergenic lipstick without it will be a big mistake.
Although the color is not intense, it lasts long and super moisturizing. Highly recommended for people who prefer natural makeup.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Nourishing Lipstick
I wanted to try an affordable and nourishing lipstick that wouldn’t leave my lips looking and feeling all dry.
So I decided to give this brand a try. I could feel it was nourishing and it didn’t dry as it stayed for some time.
I was able to easily apply this lipstick pretty evenly across my lips without any problems. The vibrant colours get a big thumbs up from me because I love bold colours.
The issue with this hypoallergenic lipstick was that it transferred way too easily and so I had to constantly check my lips and touch-up frequently.
It’s not the best option for lengthy events. The lipstick felt heavy on my lips although I applied only two layers of it. It didn’t feel that on my lips comfortable after a while.
What I Liked:
- Hydrating formula
- Even application
- Makes lips look smooth
- Cruelty-free
- PABA-free
- Dermatologist-approved
What I Didn't Like
- Transfers easily
- Feels heavy after some time
Faceworks Hypoallergenic Lipstick
I tread with caution when it comes to hypoallergenic lipsticks because some brands just throw the term around and aren’t exactly hypoallergenic.
But I am happy to say this is one of the best hypoallergenic lipsticks I have used as it was perfect for my sensitive lips.
It is hypoallergenic and moisturising. It was easy to blot the lipstick after application to get the shade I desired.
Unfortunately, I had experienced irritation and peeling with other lipsticks so this lipstick was a big relief for me when I didn’t experience any of these problems.
I wish there were more shades available. The drawback of this lipstick I find is its price point which is higher when compared to other hypoallergenic lipstick brands. It transfers easily too.
What I Liked:
- Contains moisturising agents
- Nourishes lips
- Easy to apply
- Smooth and creamy texture
- Impressive pigment
What I Didn't Like:
- Expensive lipstick
- Have to re-apply after a while
PYT Hypoallergenic Lipstick
A hypoallergenic lipstick that has been on my list for a long time finally arrived and I am happy to say that it was worth a try.
The lipstick is highly pigmented which means one swipe is sufficient in most cases to get a good colour payoff.
I read that the lipstick contains oils which was evident in how hydrating and nourishing it felt after application.
Also, I have really dry lips so this was great!
I could apply it with ease too as the formula glided wonderfully on the lips and was weightless. The major issue for me is how quickly it smudges and transfers.
If you are someone who touches your face constantly, this lipstick is not for you. That being said, if you are careful then it can probably work.
What I Liked:
- Highly pigmented
- Nourishes the lips
- Hydrating
- Affordable
- Slightly scented
- Fun and bold colours
- Weightless
What I Didn't Like:
- Easily smudges
- Not transfer-proof
Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick
The Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick has proved to be a long-lasting lipstick that stays put for hours. It looked flawless on the lips as it doesn’t settle on the cracks of the lips.
It is a lipstick you can easily wear for a long time as it is weightless and you forget you even had it on.
The colour does stay and even if it wears down, it does so nicely because it evenly wears down which ensures you don’t look like a clown.
The problem with the lipstick is that it rubs off quite easily. It was practically gone post-lunch sadly. The shade isn’t an exact match of what you see on the image.
I found the actual colour to be lighter than what is shown so be careful when making a choice.
There is also a great amount of choice when it comes to the lipstick tones. Here are some of my faves:
What I Liked:
- Stays on for long
- Has a matte-like finish
- Creamy textured lipstick
- Feels like a chapstick
- High pigment
- Easily buildable formula
What I Didn't Like:
- Doesn’t survive post-meal
- Lighter than what is shown on the image
- Lips feel dehydrated after a while
Bite Beauty Matte Crème Cream Lip Crayon Pencil
Recently, I purchased the lip crayon pencil, shade Red Velvet and it is the BEST lipstick ever! Perfect for wearing at the office, I am using it regularly and I have to re-apply only once a day and that’s it.
The only bad point about this lipstick is that it’s too delicate. I carry it carefully everyday in my bag making sure it doesn’t break.
Ecco Bella Natural Moisturizing Lipstick
I am in love with Ecco Bella’s lipsticks. It’s so smooth & creamy, just what I needed to wear at work & also attend events later on. Although it must be applied again and again, at least, this lipstick doesn’t make my lips feel dry!
Physicians Formula Organic Wear Nourishing Lipstick
Being allergic to most lipsticks, I have limited options when it comes to buying lip tints, gloss or sticks. But this one worked wonders for me! It’s ultra smoothness & creamy texture keeps my lips soft & moisturized for a long time.
However, the only problem with this lipstick is that it gets off too quickly and I had to re-apply quite often. Hence, I would give this lipstick four stars.
How do you know that you need a hypoallergenic lipstick?
You will know that you need an eco-friendly lipstick when your lips have problems with traditional lipsticks.
If lipsticks or other products such as lip balm, lip gloss or lipliners contain the chemical ingredients that you are allergic to, it can lead to cheilitis or allergic reaction.
Or to put it simply, the inflammation of lips. After only a few minutes to a few hours of applying, you will begin to feel your lips become hot, burning or turn red.
However, even if your lips do not experience these conditions, using a moisturizing lipstick with natural ingredients is still a smart choice. Traditional lipstick often contains dangerous chemicals such as colorings, preservatives or metal.
Using them for a long time, your health will be adversely affected. Skin cancer is one of them.
Things you need to know about hypoallergenic lipstick?
Just like a traditional lipstick, hypoallergenic lipstick is very diverse and suitable for all your needs. You need lip gloss or matte lipstick, all-natural cosmetic brands can satisfy.
In addition, if you think that lipstick color is not diverse then you are wrong. From natural derivatives, brands can create a variety of colors, suitable for any skin color or preference. There is no limit to the colors.
Moreover, many hypoallergenic lipsticks have reached the same level of traditional lipstick in terms of long-wear, from 5-6 hours.
And even the lipstick only lasts 2-3 hours, you totally can bring it by your side and easy to touch up without worrying about dryness. No matter how many layers you apply, your lips won't get thick or flaky.
